Topping out at Fountain Court

Fountain Court, our brand new and innovative supported housing scheme in Bloxwich near Wolverhampton, is one step closer to opening its doors. In March, a topping out ceremony was held at the site. Councillor Kath Phillips, Deputy Mayor of Walsall, took part in this construction industry tradition which marks the moment when the roof of a new building is completed. She was presented with a commemorative builder’s trowel.

The development will provide 16 purpose built apartments for adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities, providing them with a safe environment to live independently in the community, with on-site support and fully adaptive technology available to all residents.

We designed the project in partnership with Inclusion Housing CIC, and our plans are being brought to life by specialist supported housing developer HB Villages and building contractor Morgan Sindall.

Mark Dyson, Head of New Build Development at Lifeways said:

“Lifeways is delighted to be part of such an exciting and innovative development, adding to the landscape of services available in Bloxwich. From the overall building design, to the layout of each individual home, this scheme is being developed to provide high quality and adapted accommodation to ensure tenants are able to live the most active and independent lives possible to them within the local community.”

David Jarvie, Regional Operations Manager for the South at Inclusion Housing, added:

“The Bloxwich scheme is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through innovative partnership working between statutory, not for profit and private sectors. Inclusion Housing is proud to be part of this scheme and the best bit is yet to come; welcoming the tenants into their new homes. We look forward to working in partnership with Lifeways and Walsall Council in ensuring this development provides a fantastic home for the most vulnerable people in the region for years to come.’’

Alastair Sheehan, Development Director of HB Villages, commented:

“This development will help tackle the issue of isolation faced by vulnerable adults in Bloxwich and the surrounding area. It will give tenants the choice to live where they want to, independently and in a safe environment, with care support and technology blended in the background. It’s fantastic to see the work reaching this stage and I look forward to returning and meeting the people who will proudly call this development their home.”
