A rewarding experience
Our paid summer placements usually last for three months, and are for Support Worker roles in our supported living services across the UK. Supported living is a service that helps people living with disabilities to retain their independence and lead fulfilling lives within their own home, whilst still having physical and emotional support on hand as and when needed.

Enjoy a varied role
As a Support Worker, each day is different - one day you might be supporting someone to take the bus to their volunteer job and then helping them make dinner; another you might be supporting someone to do their shopping, and visit friends in their local town. Everything we do at Lifeways is based around each individual, and so you’ll support people to live the lives they choose.
Training and support
You’ll be supported with a fully paid induction to understand the roles and responsibilities of being a Support Worker, and so no specific qualifications or experience in care is required to apply - what's most important is that you have a passion for helping people. The people you’ll support will be living with conditions including learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and mental health needs.

When in your role, your team will always be close by, and you’ll have regular check-ins to make sure you’re settling in well and have all the support you need to succeed in your role. Lifeways is a great place to work, and you’ll enjoy being part of a close-knit team. Many of the students who join us will return the following summer because they’ve enjoyed it so much, some continue to work during term time at a local service to fit around their studies, and some go on to have permanent positions at Lifeways.
