Melissa Makes a Difference
Melissa Bibbey, Trainer and Assessor for Lifeways, shares with us her experiences with Lifeways and how she has seen the business grow and develop.
During her time at Lifeways, Melissa has seen the business grow and has also developed herself professionally. She has completed a BTEC Professional Diploma level 4 in people-movers with ROSPA, on top of her TTT. There is a great training package available with access to vocational learning and the opportunity to progress in your role if that is what you choose to do.
What’s something that has changed during your time at Lifeways?
"When I first moved over to Lifeways, Jane Manton had a vision of how training would look and over the years I have seen the training change to meet that vision. It has changed in so many ways for the better with blended learning, the implementation of My Lifeways Learning, and more fun activity-based face to face training. Recently we have started to deliver training from our own homes and support new learners to complete the remote core induction and existing staff to complete rescue medication competencies”.
What is your favourite Lifeways memory?
"There are so many things I could say. Making a difference for the people we support by ensuring their staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills to support them. I love the variety of courses we deliver and all the individuals I get to meet. The team of trainers that I work with is fantastic very supportive of each other. A person we support who was involved with the induction training telling the group how she loved her job of training new staff made my day".
With Lifeways celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, what do you think we should most be celebrating?’
"Where do I start? The difference Lifeways has made to so many people’s lives, the good news stories, the collaborative working, the training package, and pathways for staff, the changes to systems and structures to get things right. The staff have made a difference through the amazing support that they give to people, especially in such difficult times"
