Mental health support at Lifeways
Over the past 25 years we’ve supported thousands of people on their journeys with mental ill health. We know that every situation is unique. And regardless of the diagnosis, we always focus on each person’s situation - tailoring our approach to meet their unique needs.
At Lifeways, our dedicated support provides the very best support for individuals affected by mental ill health, enabling people to live with greater independence and control over their lives.
We offer a pathway of services and settings that offer the very best in mental health support, from specialist recovery services to longer term supported living and residential services across the UK.
Specialist mental health support with SIL
We believe that there are still too many people currently residing in hospitals or other secure settings who, with the right support and structure would thrive in community settings.
Our SIL service provides specialist support and recovery services for people with enduring mental health needs, supporting them in the transition from institutional environments back into their own home within the community.
With our support, we are able to help people take an earlier transition out of secure units or hospitals than they would have achieved on their own. Our SIL settings are purpose-built or refurbished flats in small secure blocks, with 24/7 support available on site.
"I've come a long way, and I'm living in a way that I never thought I'd be able to."

Everyday support to prosper
As well as supporting individuals through SIL, we also provide support for those living with mental health conditions in the community through our supported living services.
Our self-contained flats and shared houses are located in the heart of communities, to give people the opportunity to live independently with support from our specialist and dedicated support teams.
Residential services for mental health
Lifeways also has two residential mental health services in the West Midlands, Beeton Grange and The Royd.
Providing short-term and outcome-focused rehabilitation and support, these two locations offer homely shared living environments with both communal spaces and private bedrooms.
Our approach to mental health
Mental health support at Lifeways is always underpinned by a belief in recovery - recognising there is always room for hope and an opportunity for change.
We take a positive approach to risk, combined with skilled and responsive support, which we believe offers individuals the opportunity to live more fulfilling lives, in the least restrictive environments, close to home and with a greater sense of self determination and independence.
Lifeways offers support in all aspects of a person's life, which can include managing their mental and physical health, self-care, relationships, living skills, reducing addictive behaviours and improving self-esteem.
All of our support is carefully planned collaboratively with each person, their family and care professionals, ensuring that everyone's voice is heard, and that the plan is tailored to reflect all needs and wishes. We also ensure to meet regularly to review, celebrate successes and discuss any adaptations or progressions needed.
Working closely with each person and their network of support, together we help them take positive steps forward in their journey, learn to accept help and become more self-reliant, all of which helps them to believe in their unique value and worth to the people around them and their community.
Recovery from certain types of mental health conditions is a journey of self-discovery and personal growth, often involving transitions back and forth through many different phases.
Our aim is to be there for people during this journey, offering guidance and encouragement to realise their self-worth, what they have to offer, and helping them to build a new sense of purpose.
“I’m really proud of my achievements. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my Lifeways support team who believed in me all the way. Now I also believe in myself.”
