Life-changing support for adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions.
Type of property
At Hamilton Square apartments, people come together as a community. Living in this shared building means people benefit from a vibrant network of staff and friends, as well as enjoying peace and quiet when they need it too.
Hamilton Square has 12 two-bedroom apartments spread over two buildings. Each apartment is large and has an open-plan kitchen and lounge area, and a bathroom with a shower. Assistive technology includes an intercom system and an apartment buzzer.
Valued in your community
At Hamilton Square, we are fortunate to be located in vibrant Birkenhead. The local area has many cafes, pubs, restaurants, and shops, as well as Birkenhead Market, the Pyramids Shopping Centre, Birkenhead Priory, the U-boat Story Museum, Birkenhead Park, the Wirral Transport Museum and Heritage Tramway, and a Vue cinema.
For people who like to stay active, Europa Pool Leisure Centre provides year-round access to a gym, swimming pool, activities and group classes.
Liverpool is easily accessible from the property. Here, people can enjoy numerous museums and art galleries, Liverpool ONE Shopping Centre, the Liverpool Empire, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Lane 7 Liverpool for bowling, and Imagine That Science and Discovery Centre. And we’re spoilt for choice for beautiful walks - the docks, Toxteth Park, Wavertree Botanic Gardens and Sefton Park are just a small selection.
Liverpool is also home to The Reader Organisation - a charity specialising in shared reading to improve mental wellbeing. Located in Calderstones Park, people can visit the Reader Cafe or the Storybarn to join shared reading sessions, where stories are read aloud and then discussed.
Living at this service
At Hamilton Square we support a diverse group of people, from those with complex needs who require 24-hour care, and very independent people with less complex needs. This is a busy household where people enjoy socialising. Everyone is welcome and we will assess people to make sure it’s the right community fit. Eight of the apartments are for people with mental health conditions, with the other four for people with learning disabilities or autism.
The people who live here like shopping, cooking, walking, football, spending time in the community, volunteering, going to the gym, listening to music, watching television and going out for lunch.
At Hamilton Square, people choose how they spend their time - they particularly enjoy visiting the coast and going on day trips to Blackpool. We’ve even been on group holidays to America and Spain.
“Hamilton Square is the nicest area of Birkenhead. The staff here are really engaged and work across the board with people who have complex or non-complex needs. The apartments are big so it’s easy to make them your own.” Manager, Hamilton Square
