The Sidings
Life-changing support for adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities, acquired brain injuries or mental health conditions.
Type of property
At The Sidings apartments, people come together as a community. Living in this shared building means people benefit from a vibrant network of staff and friends, as well as enjoying independence in their own apartments when they need it too.
There are eight one-bedroom apartments, each with an open-plan kitchen, dining room and living room, and a wet room-style bathroom. There is a communal area with a television, a Nintendo Wii, sofas and a small table for people to socialise and relax. The Sidings also has an accessible patio area for people to spend time outside when the weather is good.
The property also has four adjoining bungalows, each with one bedroom, an open-plan kitchen, dining room and living room, and a wet room-style bathroom. All bungalows have doors leading onto a private courtyard.
Assistive technology includes an intercom system, a Tunstall connected care system, and CCTV throughout to ensure people’s safety. All bungalows and ground floor apartments are wheelchair accessible.
Pets are welcome here - we currently have three dogs and two cats onsite.

Living at this service
We are ready to welcome someone over 25 years old. People have varied interests including listening to music, watching television, volunteering, gaming, shopping, cooking, swimming, bingo, karaoke, gardening, watching football and rugby union, socialising and being in the community. One person here is learning to play the drums.
At The Sidings, people choose how they spend their time. Trips to Blackpool, Formby Beach, the coast and tourist attractions are favourites. A group of people go to the pub for dinner once a month, and there is a garden club in the warmer months for people who want to join in.
“The Sidings is a new-build so it is very modern and comfortable. The people we support have really come together and there is a sense of community, with people sharing the communal space and helping each other. The staff enjoy working here because every day is different and the people are engaging. The area itself is very quiet and calm. The atmosphere is always happy in these apartments.” Manager, The Sidings
