Managerial Roles for Nurses at Lifeways
Qualified Nurse Lauren Fairweather works for Lifeways as a Deputy Manager. See how she progressed in her care career, which she describes as "very satisfying and fulfilling".
Lauren has been working for Lifeways full time since 2020. She first joined our team in June 2019 as an agency Nurse within our Craig Court service.
Lauren qualified as an Adult Nurse in 2013. As a nurse, she worked for an agency company for six years, in a variety of care settings including nursing homes and NHS wards. Before completing her nursing training, she worked in an EMI unit as a care assistant. She loved this job, as she found working with the people with dementia rewarding.
"Here at Lifeways, I enjoy looking after the residents and making sure they live a full life as independently as possible. I find my work very satisfying and fulfilling. We have a very friendly team of staff which makes coming to work a pleasure, knowing that everyone is helpful and supportive of each other. Some days can be challenging due to the complex needs of some of our residents, but we work together as a team to bring out the best within our service users and ensure they are happy and well cared for.
As a nurse, I have experience in supporting adults with complex needs. I understand the attitude required to work in support and how to provide high-quality care, ensuring that the needs of the people we support are met, both physically and mentally. My passion for care and my previous experience within Lifeways meant I was up for the next step. I applied for the Deputy Manager position and began working in this role in September 2020".
As a Deputy Manager, I am now responsible for the running of the home. I organise admissions, liaising with governing authorities such as the Care Inspectorate. I also audit the home to maintain a high standard, supervise my colleagues, and work in partnership with the NHS and multi-disciplinary professionals".
