National Apprenticeship Week: Meet Chloe
Chloe started work at Lifeways in September 2016, and began a Level 2 apprenticeship in Business Administration the following month. We asked Chloe about her apprenticeship experience and how she feels it has affected her career.
How did you first hear about the apprenticeship opportunity at Lifeways?
“I first heard about the apprenticeship through the Runshaw College website, and Lifeways was recommended to me by Nicki at Runshaw because she had previously helped others apply for apprenticeships at Lifeways. I had an assessor at Runshaw who helped me through the study part, and my line manager at Lifeways helped me with the tasks I needed to complete in the office. She also helped me learn all the different roles within the administration team, which really helped give me a rounded view of the department and how it supports the entire organisation. I spent a day with other members of the admin team who showed me what responsibilities they each have.”
What did you enjoy most about your apprenticeship, and what did you find challenging?
“I really enjoyed completing all the different tasks within the admin team. I liked learning all the aspects of a business administration role and discovering how it links in with different departments and areas across the business. Some of the tests were quite challenging, but my assessor helped me through and showed me examples of what to expect.”
How do you feel your apprenticeship has affected your career?
“I completed the apprenticeship in a year, then secured a permanent position as a Business Administrator, which is brilliant. I am also now completing my Level 3 apprenticeship. I think it has been a really valuable experience as it has helped me learn different aspects of the job. I personally learn better by doing, so it was the right choice for me. I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship to others, it has prepared me for an office based job, and the whole experience has made me feel much more confident.”
