Assistive technology can be tailored to suit the needs of each person and includes an intercom, CCTV and a Tunstall connected care system. There is level access as well as a lift for internal access to upper floors.
Valued in your community
Bluebell Court is in a residential area with pubs, shops, restaurants and a library. For people who like to stay active, The Lakeside Centre has a gym, exercise classes, a sports hall, and a swimming pool. We are also close to the coast which has picturesque walks.
South Shields offers larger amenities such as a post office, the Life Brigade Museum, South Shields Roman Fort, and the Ocean Beach Pleasure Park. People also like to visit neighbouring Tynemouth for attractions including Tynemouth Aquarium, Tynemouth Priory and Castle, and Gutterball Alley for bowling.
Nearby Newcastle-upon-Tyne provides access to the Life Science Centre, Victoria Tunnel Tours, the Discovery Museum, Great North Museum, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, a number of theatres and cinemas, Eldon Square shopping centre, and Newcastle Castle.
Living at this service
Bluebell Court is ready to welcome someone new. We currently support a lot of young adults, so a more mature person would bring a great balance.
People choose how they spend their time. Trips to the coast, tourist attractions, the theatre and theme parks are favourites. People here have a great level of independence - some volunteer or work, while others go to college.
“At Bluebell Court, people enjoy the independent setting. The staff offer 24 hour support to help guide people and become proud of what they are achieving in running their own household. For most people, this is the first experience of independent living. It’s a good area with great transport access into Newcastle and many local amenities. In the summer, people come together for activities to raise money for charities. These activities involve families and the local community joining us for BBQs, fun runs and lots of other things.” Manager, Bluebell Court
