Living at this service
Chestnut is ready to welcome someone aged over 45 who wants to be part of a community, make friends with the people here and socialise regularly. All of the houses are interlinked and people often come together to take part in activities. Most of the people we support here are women and the staff are all women too.
At Chestnut, people choose how they spend their time. Trips to tourist attractions, the coast, Blackpool and Scarborough are favourites. People have hobbies including going out for lunch, shopping, watching television, cooking, gardening, walking, karaoke, swimming, working and volunteering. People particularly enjoy socialising and being in the community during the day, then coming together to watch soaps and relax in the evening.
“Chestnut is in a lovely area. A real community has been created as the three houses are located together. All of the people we support communicate well with staff. People make their own decisions on what to do so each day is different. Everyone enjoys each other's company and interacts well. We often hold parties for birthdays, Christmas and other holidays. Todmorden is a quiet place with beautiful rural views. You can see trains passing by from the house. The people are very welcoming and friendly. The energy is soft and gentle.” Manager, Chestnut
