Holmwood Drive
Life-changing support for adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health conditions.
Type of property
At Holmwood Drive, people are supported to live independently.
This three-bedroom detached bungalow includes a loft conversion. It has a very large kitchen, a living room and a utility room. There are two bathrooms - one with a bath and the other is a wet room style shower.
Holmwood Drive also has a garden with a patio and a BBQ for people to relax in when the weather is good. Assistive technology can be tailored to suit each person’s needs.
Valued in your community
Holmwood Drive is in a peaceful residential area close to Glenfield.
The local area has cafes, pubs and restaurants, a post office and a library. There’s even a city farm where people can feed and pet the animals.
For people who like to stay active, New Parks Leisure Centre provides year-round access to exercise classes, squash courts, two swimming pools and a gym.
Nearby Leicester offers larger attractions, such as Leicester Castle, Haymarket or Highcross shopping centres, a Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre, an Odeon Cinema, East Street Lanes for bowling, the Curve Theatre. There are also museums including the National Space Centre and the Guildhall Museum, as well as restaurants and high-street banks.
Living at this service
The people we support here are two women aged between 55 and 67, who live with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. One of the women spends a lot of time in the community and dislikes being in the house for too long. The other woman likes socialising, dancing, knitting, practising her religion, and doing household chores.
At Holmwood Drive, people enjoy watching television, shopping, swimming, cooking, listening to music, karaoke, playing the keyboard, walking, watching football, and being in the community.
People choose how they want to spend their time - day trips to Wales, Bognor Regis and the zoo are favourites.
“Holmwood Drive is very homely and staff pride themselves on giving home cooked meals and enhancing the quality of life for the people we support. The people here are friendly and welcoming too.” Manager, Holmwood Drive
