At Lewis Gardens, people are welcomed and supported to live independent lives. The service is a detached house with five bedrooms, plus a staff sleep-in room for overnight support. One bedroom is downstairs and has an en-suite wet room style bathroom. Also downstairs are a toilet, kitchen, dining room, living room and a handy laundry room. Upstairs there are four bedrooms and two shared bathrooms.

The back garden has a large lawned area with a summerhouse, patio area with table and chairs and a greenhouse. The garden is secure with a fence and two locked gates.

Living at this service

Life at Lewis Gardens is suitable for people with learning disabilities, autism or mental health conditions. It is home to four older ladies, who have a wide range of interests and hobbies, including doing jigsaws, colouring in, going out to the theatre, cinema and shopping. They also love going on holidays, spending time with their families and one lady attends a day service twice a week to bake and meet friends.

The atmosphere in the home is friendly, very homely and relaxed. Everyone is made to feel welcome. We are ready to welcome another lady who has similar interests and likes meeting new people.

Lewis Gardens is in a great location, close to local shops including a newsagents, chemist, and a hair salon. The Temple Park area is nearby and is a lovely place to go for a walk when the weather is good.

South Shields sea front is a short drive away and is a great place to walk, get something to eat and visit the small funfair. There’s a long sandy beach, museum and art gallery and plenty of shops and restaurants. Both Newcastle and Gateshead are under an hour’s drive away and are excellent day trip destinations.
