People also like to visit Nottingham, which has Nottingham Castle, Museum and Art Gallery, Green’s Windmill and Science Centre, ice skating at Motorpoint Arena, Nottingham Playhouse Theatre, and Victoria and Broadmarsh shopping centres.
Nottingham University City Hospital is easily accessible for services in brain injury, cystic fibrosis, epilepsy and seizure disorders, speech and language therapy, and neurological rehabilitation outpatients.
Living at this service
The two properties at London Road are suitable for people with diverse needs. London Road 1 is ideal for people with learning disabilities, while London Road 3 can support people with learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
Both properties are ready to welcome an able-bodied person of any age who likes interacting with others within the property.
At London Road, people choose how they spend their time. Hobbies include listening to music, walking, watching television, going out for lunch, gardening, shopping, socialising and being in the community. Trips to the coast are loved by all.
At London Road 1, people particularly enjoy bowling, going to the cinema, doing arts and crafts, baking and swimming. People have been away as a group and as individuals to Butlins and Blackpool. The people we support here are aged between 45 and 70. One of the women likes drawing, drinking tea, shopping, eating out, talking and spending time with staff and other people we support. Another person loves dancing and going to the day centre.
At London Road 3, people like to spend time inside the house, as well as visiting Blackpool, London and other UK cities. One middle aged lady enjoys going out into her community and spending time at home with her beloved cat.
“London Road is a supported living service for people who are more independent. The staff work hard to promote independence for all the people we support and encourage everyone to take an active part in the local community. The atmosphere within this house is very relaxed and calm.” Manager, London Road
