Leyland is the closest town, with cafes, pubs, a library, a post office, restaurants, shops, high-street banks, South Ribble Museum and Exhibition Centre, and the British Commercial Vehicle Museum. There are beautiful walks in the surrounding countryside too. For people who like to stay active, Leyland Leisure Centre provides year-round access to a gym and swimming pool.

In nearby Southport, there are lots of things to do, including Southport Pleasureland, Pier and Beach, Marine Lake Promenade, the Model Railway Village, a Vue cinema, Tenpin Southport for bowling, theatres, art galleries and high-street shops and banks.

People also like to visit Preston, with its larger amenities. There’s St George’s and Fishergate Shopping Centres, the Harris Museum, art gallery and library, a Vue cinema, and Preston Rock n Bowl.

Their interests include going shopping, working, football, watching television, swimming, sports, going to the cinema, listening to music, cooking, karaoke, walking, and being in the community. It’s a very sociable house where the people are really good friends.

At Long Close, people choose how they spend their time - meetings are held every month to decide on what kind of activities we should do. People particularly enjoy going to Blackpool and the zoo. We even go on holiday together - so far we’ve been to Lanzarote and Spain.
