Nearby Halifax offers a Vue Cinema, Halifax Playhouse and Victoria Theatre, The Eureka! Science Museum, Calderdale Industrial Museum, Woolshops Shopping Centre, and Electric Bowl for bowling.
People also like to visit Bradford for The Broadway Bradford and Kirkgate shopping centres, the National Science and Media Museum, Bradford Ice Arena for ice skating, and the Alhambra Theatre.
Living at this service
Lydgate is ready to welcome a woman, preferably over 30, who is looking to spend time with the other women in the house. We support four women here aged between 42 and 59, who live with learning disabilities, cerebral palsy and chromosomal disorder.
One person likes going to the day centre three times a week, visiting her sister and spending time in the community with staff. Another enjoys listening to music in the house, watching television and baking. Another loves colouring, sticker books and playing with her toys and one person likes going out in her car and eating out.
At Lydgate, people choose how they spend their time. Trips to the zoo, and local coasts and tourist attractions are favourites. People have hobbies including going out for lunch, shopping, watching television, cooking, gaming, walking, watching football, swimming, socialising and being in the community.
“Lydgate is a busy and fun house. The atmosphere is welcoming and calm. All of the people we support enjoy each other's company. The staff are always looking for new activities for people to do together or one on one.” Manager, Lydgate
