Millwater
Life-changing residential care for adults with learning disabilities, autism, physical disabilities or non-complex mental health conditions.
Type of property
Millwater provides specialist residential care for adults and collaborative, community support. Living in this shared building means individuals can benefit from a vibrant network of friends and staff, while having peace and quiet whenever they need it too.
The property is made up by three houses that are joined to make one large property - Swan House, Wren House and Dove House. Together they provide nineteen bedrooms. Each room has a wet-room style ensuite bathroom. There are also three shared kitchens, one laundry room, three open-plan living rooms with dining areas and a lift for wheelchair access.
The three houses at Millwater have a shared courtyard in the middle. A separate accessible garden, with a BBQ, is also part of the property. We have regular garden parties when the weather is good, which people here really enjoy.
Valued in your community
At Millwater, we’re fortunate to be located close to vibrant cafes, pubs, shops, and a post office. We also have year-round access to South Yardley Library and Stechford Leisure Centre for swimming and other fitness activities. The pool here even has a PoolPod for water entry assistance.
Birmingham city centre offers a larger range of amenities, including the Thinktank Science Museum, the Bullring Shopping Centre, O2 Academy, Sealife Centre, and a number of theatres and art galleries.
People at Millwater choose how they spend their time. Day trips to the coast, or bowling, bingo, and visiting the local pubs are firm favourites.
Living at this service
Millwater would be well suited to a sociable and calm person. The people we support are mixed gender, and range in age from early 30s to early 80s.
At Millwater, we support people with autism, learning disabilities, Down’s Syndrome, cerebral palsy and other complex needs.
The people here share many interests, such as arts and crafts, shopping, listening to music, going to the cinema, being in the community, dolls, rock climbing and swimming. It’s a very busy house, with lots of activities to choose from, in and out of the house, each day.
“Millwater is a really special place. The staff are incredibly dedicated, knowledgeable and committed, making sure they fully understand the needs of each of the people we support. The people that live here really enjoy the group outings and garden parties. Although it is a large property, it feels like a home. Everyone can decide when to socialise, or when to spend time in their own space.” Manager, Millwater
