There are fourteen apartments and four bungalows, each with a wet room style bathroom, and an open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining area. All of the bungalows, as well as the ground floor apartments, are wheelchair accessible and have access to a shared garden with a patio area.

Pioneer Court has assistive technology including an intercom, a pendant system to call for staff, and CCTV. Two bungalows also come equipped with automatic doors.

Pioneer Court is in a residential area with small cafes, pubs and restaurants, as well as Ford Green Hall Museum and Whitfield Valley Nature Reserve. Nearby Tunstall and Hanley both have a wider range of libraries, high-street shops and banks.
