Wedgewood Avenue
Life-changing support for able-bodied adults with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injuries or mental health conditions.
Type of property
The three-bedroom bungalow at Wedgwood Avenue will make everyone feel welcome and supported.
The property has a kitchen with a dining table, a living room, and a conservatory with a second dining table. There are three bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom. There are two shared bathrooms – the upstairs bathroom has a shower, and the downstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower.
The garden and patio, which are fully accessible, go all the way around the property. Outside, you’ll also find a BBQ.
Valued in your community
The people we care for at Wedgwood Avenue decide what they want to do at the beginning of each day. We organise regular trips to the local Leisure Centre for swimming and when the weather is good, we go for walks or take day trips to the seaside - Blackpool is a firm favourite, as is the Black Country Living Museum.
Nearby Newcastle under Lyme is great for a day trip, with lots of shops, banks, a post office, cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is also the New Newcastle Library, New Vic Theatre, Brampton Museum, and Vue Cinema.
People also enjoy visiting Stoke-on-Trent particularly the Festival Retail Park and intu Potteries for shopping, Regent Theatre, and the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery.
Living at this service
Wedgwood Avenue is suited to an outgoing person who enjoys both relaxing at home and keeping busy in the local area.
The property is home to three men with learning disabilities, aged between 32 and 65. One of the men also has a rare neurological syndrome while another has Down’s Syndrome. They are all sociable and spend a lot of time in the community. Their interests range from going to the pub, library, cinema or bowling, to gardening, visiting local museums, eating out and watching television. The younger man often plays on his Xbox or iPad.
The house has a strong family feel. The people here regularly come together to cook, eat, listen to music and socialise.
“The people we care for at Wedgwood Avenue are always very busy - each day is different. The staff are always promoting independence which helps these people to meet all their goals and aspirations. The staff are well-loved - a real family atmosphere has been created.” Manager, Wedgwood Avenue
