Message from Martin le Huray (Lifeways Group Chairman)

It is an exceptional individual who can lead and grow a business from 100 people we support and a £2M turnover to 5,450 people we support and a £265M turnover, with a pipeline that will take Lifeways Group closer to £300M. Our CEO Paul Marriner has done exactly that.

For over 18 years and with 11 years as CEO, Paul has inspired teams of outstanding people to deliver services of exceptional quality; helping people live ordinary, independent and happy lives through extraordinary support.

With a legacy of growth, a reformed Executive Leadership Team and strong regulatory performance behind him, a clear vision of our future and the transformation strategy in place, Paul has decided now is the right time for us to appoint his successor to lead Lifeways Group into that exciting future, having given 18 years of energy and passion to Lifeways and now wanting to seek out new challenges and with a planned succession in place.

It is therefore with great pleasure that we announce the appointment of Justin Tydeman as Group Chief Executive Officer from Monday 4 June 2018.

To ensure there will be no disruption to the care we provide for the people we support, there will be a period of transition starting on Monday 23 April 2018 where Justin – in the role of CEO Designate – and Paul will work together with the Board and ELT.

Justin is committed to and will keep our focus on the people Lifeways Group support. He is very familiar with the needs of Adults with learning and physical disabilities and he also brings many years of experience leading major European services companies, most recently as CEO of PHS, the provider of healthcare and hygiene services.

Non-Executive role

Our thanks for what Paul Marriner has achieved for Lifeways Group are immense. We are delighted to confirm that Paul will stay on in the role of Non-Executive Director. Alongside the other Non-Executive Directors, Paul’s focus will now be to support Justin and the Executive team in their delivery of the strategy. In his Non-Executive role, Paul will head up a newly formed Board Committee for Quality, and have responsibility for identifying new acquisition opportunities.

OMERS and I respect what must have been a difficult decision that Paul has made after so many successful years with Lifeways, but we wish both Justin and Paul well in their new roles in the company.
