Burgess Care, a Lifeways residential service, receives fresh CQC rating!
A Lifeways residential service has received a fresh new rating from England’s health and social regulator, the Care Quality Commission, (CQC).
Burgess Care is a Lifeways residential service, near the town of Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. The service is currently home to 20 adults who live with learning disabilities and autism.
After a CQC inspection in March, Burgess Care has now been rated ‘Good’ by the regulator. This means that inspectors found the service was safe, responsive, and well-led.
The CQC classes all health services with one of four ratings: Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement, or Inadequate.
What the CQC report says about Burgess Care:
- “Holistic assessments of needs were developed into person-centred care plans with guidance for staff”
- “People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives”
- “Relatives told us staff were understanding and responsive when events occurred which could impact on people's emotional well-being.”
‘Huge positive impact’
In the report, inspectors also noted several cases where an individual’s specific needs were met.
In one case, an individual’s support team noted the individual appeared content when in an office at the service. In response, the support team converted the office into a personal lounge for the individual.
The CQC report noted that the person’s relative had commented: “The genius move of giving [Name] his own safe space, has had a huge positive impact on everyone.”
Another relative commented, “staff listen to you and take on board what we say, they are proactive and resourceful.”
The full report is available for reading on the CQC website.
