Celebrating our Great British Care Awards regional winners
It’s been another successful year for Lifeways at the Great British Care Awards 2025, with four individual team members and one team announced as regional winners.
The awards recognise excellence across the care sector, and we’re delighted that our team members have been honoured for their dedication, teamwork and commitment to the people we support.
West Midlands Region
Our Woodbury View team from Worcester, won the Home Care Team Award category at the West Midlands Regional Awards in Birmingham on 1 November.
In her nomination, Alina Brathwaite, Area Manager said: “At Woodbury View, the team believe care is not just a service – it's a home filled with warmth, trust and laughter, where individuals can thrive.
“The team recently demonstrated extraordinary dedication, teamwork, and compassion, going far beyond standard expectations to ensure the well-being and recovery of a person they support. “
Praising the work of the team, the category judge commented: “I am proud to recognise the Woodbury View Team at Lifeways for the Team Award. Their experienced, dedicated staff, strong team spirit, and genuine passion for care were evident throughout our conversation. Under Nicola Driscoll’s leadership, they have created an environment where both staff and residents flourish - truly exemplary care in action.”
South East Region
Sara Serraro, Service Manager for Travers Court in Sutton, was the winner in the Frontline Leader Award category at the South East Regional Awards on 15 November.
Andrew Fowle, Area Manager, said: “Judges highlighted how Sara returned from maternity leave and immediately stepped back into her role with even greater energy, focus and commitment. Her drive to improve outcomes for both the people we support and for her staff team really shone through.
“For me, Sara’s win represents everything we strive for at Lifeways: dedication, compassion, teamwork and a genuine commitment to helping people live fulfilling and independent lives. She embodies those values every day, and we are all delighted to see her recognised on such a big stage.”
After her win, Sara said she has been focused on bringing different people and services together to strengthen bonds. She added: “I have also worked to empower our quality checkers by giving them opportunities to complete checks in different services, helping to build their confidence and independence.”
North East Region
Three members of Lifeways’ Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) team scooped awards at the North East Regional Awards in Newcastle on 27 November.
Kelly Stretch, PBS Lead, and Isabel Cockerham, PBS Practitioner, won the Workforce Development category, while Sophie Sayer, PBS Practitioner, won the Co-Production category.
Judges said Kelly and Isabel were passionate PBS leaders who inspired their teams and enabled individuals to thrive.
Sophie was also praised by the judges: “Sophie demonstrates excellence in co-production, empowering individuals through compassion, innovation and strong advocacy. She redefines PBS and sets a benchmark for inclusive, person-centred care.”
Gareth Roberts, Quality Director said: “We are incredibly proud of the outcomes that the entire PBS team achieve in collaboration with people we support, operational colleagues and all of the different people and organisations we work with. By embracing person centredness, we can help people live happy, independent and fulfilling lives, and that’s what we are here for.”
Jo Lourmpa, PBS Strategic Lead, said the recognition reflected how people are at the heart of everything the team does.
She added: “These awards celebrate the passion and dedication of our team in driving best practice and making a real difference in people’s lives creating environments where everyone feels valued and supported. "
Our winners will now go on to represent Lifeways at the National Awards in Birmingham in February 2026, and we wish them all the very best of luck!
