Congratulations to Lifeways team member Karen, who took home the HCPA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Learning Disability Support.

She collected the award at a ceremony hosted by Hertfordshire Care Providers Association, which was celebrating its 10th anniversary, on Friday, November 22.

The prizes were handed out in front of a packed 400-strong audience at the ceremony at Knebworth Barns.

The judging panel said:

"Karen, who is a naturally personable and caring individual, builds a close rapport with all the people she supports and truly understands their needs and wants. She has achieved positive outcomes with the individuals she key works with and empowers them by actively encouraging positive activities."

Team GB star and former world white water rafting champion Emily Evans was the evening’s VIP guest, while other special guests were the director of adult care services in Hertfordshire Iain MacBeath and Hertfordshire County Council’s executive member for adult care and health Cllr Richard Roberts.

HCPA chief executive Sharon Davies was delighted to celebrate the achievements of hard-working and devoted care workers in the county.

She said:

"To celebrate 10 years of HCPA supporting staff to raise quality in care, this night of celebration has been a fitting start to us highlighting the amazing care given by people who provide support to vulnerable people. Tonight has once again showcased some of the most heart-warming stories and we are proud to share these in a public show of praise. All the finalists were worthy of certificates and awards tonight."
