Halifax services receive improved CQC report
We are proud to announce that a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection of our of care and support in Halifax found that our service has maintained its overall rating of ‘good’ and has improved to ‘outstanding’ for being a responsive service.
The CQC spoke to some of the people we support, their relatives, support workers and our managers.
Their inspection focused on five categories: checking to see our service is safe, effective, caring, well-led and responsive.
Inspectors praised the service for its:
- Excellent standard of care
- Strong links with the local community
- Exceptional range of activities on offer
- Opportunities provided for staff to develop and update their skills
- Dedicated and knowledgeable management team
Area manager, Scott Lovell, said:
“When I joined the Lifeways team in Halifax just over three years ago, we delivered just over 6,000 supported living hours per week and CQC rated the service as ‘requiring improvement’. We have now grown to deliver just over 11,000 supported living hours per week, and the standard of care we provide to the people we support has improved significantly.
Myself and the team are really proud of the results of our recent CQC inspection. The people we support are at the heart of everything we do and we are particularly proud of the inclusive recruitment, quality checkers and family forums.
The team use a person-centred approach and work with each person we support and their families and friends to enable people to make choices and be in control of their own lives whilst empowering people to achieve their dreams and goals.”
From the CQC report (about being responsive):
“The service has improved to Outstanding. We found strong evidence the service actively sought the views of people using the service through innovative methods, fully involving them in the interviewing process for new staff, and knowledge sharing. Staff including management knew people very well and consistently helped them achieve their dreams and aspirations.”
