‘I don't like it here…I love it!’ Why Nathan moved to St Thomas House, our Lifeways supported living service
Before Nathan made the transition to St Thomas House, a Lifeways supported living service in North Walsham, Norfolk that opened earlier this year, his parents had concerns over his wellbeing.
Nathan lives with multiple physical and mental health needs. While at a previous placement with another provider, Nathan had put on lots of weight, and couldn’t walk without assistance.
Nathan’s parents were concerned about the effects of his weight gain on his physical and mental health – and how Nathan would adapt to the change of moving home.
Careful consideration
After Lifeways’ careful consideration and assessment of Nathan’s needs, last week, he moved to his own self-contained apartment at St Thomas House. The service contains a total of 16 apartments for younger adults.
Nathan enjoys both independence and support when he needs it, delivered by the on-site Support Team.
“I don’t like it here… I love it!” said Nathan.
‘Amazing staff’
“Nathan’s move and first few days have gone far better than we could have imagined or hoped for,” said Ian, Nathan’s dad. “This is down to good planning, teamwork and the amazing staff at St Thomas House.”
Supported by the team, Nathan’s now eating freshly-cooked, nutritious meals.
“Nathan has had a most successful transition to his new home at St Thomas House,” said Alison, Nathan’s mum. “I've spoken to him many times over the last few days, and he sounds so positive and excited.”
“The staff I've met prior to Nathan's move and during his first few days are truly amazing,” added Alison.
“You can clearly see Nathan is at the centre of their support.”
