Ivy Cottage team highly commended in Stars of Social Care Awards 2026
The team at Lifeways’ Ivy Cottage Supported Living service has been Highly Commended at the Stars of Social Care Awards 2026 for its dedication in supporting a person through an incredibly challenging period.
The Stoke-on-Trent service received the Highly Commended accolade in the Complex Care Team category after supporting a person through a time when they stopped eating, drinking and taking their medication following a bereavement in her family.
After becoming severely malnourished and requiring a medical procedure, the individual has made a remarkable recovery and is now back to their usual self, enjoying life once again. This was achieved through the team’s persistent advocacy and collaboration, securing vital treatment that significantly improved their health and quality of life.
Service Manager Samantha Harrington said: “The team and I were honoured to be recognised in the Complex Care Team category at the Stars of Social Care Awards.
“It’s been a challenging period, but we are incredibly proud to have supported the person we support through it and to see them return to their usual self. Moments like this put our work into perspective and make it all worthwhile.”
