Lifeways achieves Government-backed Cyber Security Accreditation

Lifeways, the UK’s largest team of support professionals for adults, has galvanised itself against cyber threats by achieving a government backed security standard.
The team at Lifeways has achieved the Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation, which puts its systems and processes through a rigorous audit to make sure security controls are are up to date and can stand up to cyber attacks.
As a support provider to around 4,000 adults living with physical and mental disabilities, neurodivergence, acquired brain injuries and more, the accreditation is vital in helping to keep the people they support safe.
Andy Ferrington, Chief Information Officer, said: “This milestone demonstrates our unwavering commitment to safeguarding data, maintaining robust security practices, and providing a secure environment for our clients and partners.
“Keeping the people we support safe is our highest priority, and this gives them, as well as their families, the confidence that they’re in safe hands.”
Cyber Essentials Plus is a Government-backed certification scheme that helps organisations keep their customers’ data safe from cyber attacks, and is recommended by The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) for all organisations.
The NCSC estimates that 7.7m cyber crimes were experienced by businesses over the past year, around half of all businesses in the UK.
