Amber Kingsnorth

A dedicated Lifeways colleague is celebrating after successfully completing her Masters degree and is already putting her learning into practice to make a meaningful difference to a person we support.

Over the past two years, Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Lead Amber Kingsnorth studied for a Master of Science (MSc) in Analysis and Intervention in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities at the University of Kent.

Supported through external clinical supervision, along with guidance and encouragement from her manager and PBS team colleagues, Amber completed a clinical placement at Grosvenor Avenue residential service. During her placement, she worked closely with Lewis, a person we support.

Working alongside the wider team, Amber assessed Lewis’ quality of life and behaviours of concern and provided recommendations for his support.

These changes have had a positive impact, with Lewis now taking part in meaningful activities tailored to his sensory needs, developing new skills, and enjoying experiences such as swimming and shopping.

There has also been a notable reduction in behaviours of concern, alongside increased independence and an improved quality of life.

“Completing my Masters has been a huge achievement for me. It’s already making a big difference in my work, helping me support people and services to achieve positive outcomes,” said Amber after recently attending her graduation ceremony at Canterbury Cathedral.

“I loved every minute of studying and learning, and I couldn’t have done this without the support from my team and Lifeways.”

Georgia Mankertz, Registered Manager at Grosvenor Road congratulated Amber, and added: “This is a fantastic accomplishment, and she has made a real difference in the lives of the people we support!”
