Microsoft’s CEO-exclusive AI Tour event

Lifeways was honoured to join senior business leaders at Microsoft’s CEO-exclusive AI Tour event at London’s ExCel Centre last week.

Chief Executive Andrea Kinkade was among more than 130 UK CEOs at the packed venue to hear expert analysis on how artificial intelligence is delivering measurable value for organisations of all sizes across every sector.

Microsoft Chair and CEO Satya Nadella spoke about how the company is accelerating the shift toward agentic AI, systems that not only answer questions but take action alongside people. During his keynote at ExCeL, he highlighted how AI now enables anyone to build intelligent workflows using simple natural language prompts rather than code.

“For Lifeways, where our mission focuses on improving quality of life and outcomes for the people we support, the timing could not be more important given the transformation journey we are on. AI is no longer a future investment; it is a leadership responsibility today,” said Andrea.

“Lifeways has come a very long way in a short space of time, reducing administrative burden, improving data and insight, refocusing effort on care delivery, and using intelligent workflows to help teams make better decisions faster. I am truly in awe of the impact our AI journey is already having across the organisation, led by Andy Ferrington, our CIO, and his team.

“To succeed, adoption across teams is essential. We need to make AI knowledge easy to access and easy to understand, so it supports people in their day-to-day work. When streamlining processes, we must focus on what needs to change, but also be clear about what must remain.”

Former Conservative Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also took part in the event, discussing the future of the emerging technology and how it is reshaping productivity, work, and business transformation at pace.

Andrea continued: “As Rishi Sunak said: ‘AI cannot be something that happens on one side. It must become centralised, and leaders must take action today to make it happen.’

“Things are moving quickly, faster than we may imagine, especially in a sector not known for early adoption of technology. Yet Lifeways is in a strong position to lead.

“AI can and should help reduce unnecessary administrative burden and support regulatory compliance, but it will never replace the person-to-person interaction that sits at the heart of good, kind care and support.”
