Team members at our Viewmount Service in Glasgow celebrate the latest ratings from Care Inspectorate Scotland.

Lifeways’ Scottish services are celebrating a series of strong Care Inspectorate Scotland reports, with two registrations and a care home in Rutherglen all receiving high ratings following recent inspections.

Glasgow South & East: all areas rated ‘Very Good’

Living Ambitions Limited, Glasgow South and East 3, received the second-highest possible scores across the board – with inspectors rating wellbeing, staff team, and care planning as 5 – Very Good.

The report praised staff for building “exceptional” relationships that delivered measurable improvements in people’s quality of life. Inspectors highlighted stimulating activities that promoted independence and confidence, as well as meticulous health and medication management.

Care planning was also commended, with families regularly involved in decision-making and reviews. No areas for improvement were identified.

Glasgow North & West: strong outcomes and trusted care

In Glasgow North and West, Living Ambitions Limited also secured 5 – Very Good ratings for both wellbeing and staff.

Inspectors noted the registration’s success in supporting mental health and wellbeing through warm and genuine staff interactions. People told inspectors they felt happy, relaxed, and supported to build independent living skills.

Healthcare coordination was praised, with inspectors noting the staff team’s responsiveness and openness to guidance. The report also recognised strong continuity of care, thanks to stable staffing and clear communication systems.

The inspection suggested the service could expand its care planning processes as an area of improvement.

Castle Street, Rutherglen: from ‘Adequate’ to ‘Good’

Castle Street Care Home in Rutherglen has recorded a marked improvement, with all five areas – wellbeing, leadership, staff team, setting, and care planning – now rated Good.

This is a significant step up from the previous year, when the home was rated ‘Adequate’ in two categories.

Inspectors praised warm, respectful staff-resident relationships, with residents encouraged to make daily choices and pursue activities such as concerts, baking, and gardening. The home’s refreshed environment, with redecorated communal areas and personalised bedrooms, was also recognised.

Staff stability has improved, with a stronger permanent team reducing reliance on agency workers. Leadership was commended for strengthening governance and embedding quality assurance processes, while residents and families are actively shaping decisions about care and activities.

Fiona Barrie, Regional Director for Lifeways in Scotland, said: “I am so proud of our incredible teams across Scotland whose dedication to providing excellent care and support has been recognised in these latest inspections.

“We’re delighted with the results, especially at Castle Street where the team has worked incredibly hard over the last 12 months to drive improvements which have made a massive difference.

“While these reports are a glowing testament to the brilliant work we do at Lifeways, we’re not complacent and will continue to seek ways to improve and deliver the quality that the people we support and their families deserve.”
