Lifeways opens a brand-new supported living service in Stockport!
Lifeways has recently added another service to the 1,500 supported living and residential services it runs across England, Scotland, and Wales – a bespoke supported living service in Stockport.
Once fully occupied, the Stockport service, Chantler Close, will support three adults in their twenties with autism and learning disabilities.
The service’s opening marks the first time Lifeways has provided support in Stockport.
The house has been built from the ground up as a collaboration between Stockport Council, the landlord Bloor Homes, and Stockport Homes, who have provided a grant for the internal sensory rooms.
The families of the people we support have been closely involved in the planning and fitting of the house, making it custom-built and equipped to meet the needs of the people living there.
So far, two adults have moved in, with one more set to move in this spring. All three people are local to the Stockport area.
The service, which is a three-bedroom detached house, is located by several hundred meters of grassy parkland, in a new residential development, Fox Coate Estate, on the edge of the Stockport suburb of Heald Green.
Support at Chantler Close will be delivered by our support team, who will be on the site 24/7.
“This was an incredible piece of work to be involved with,” said Phil Tattersall, Community Engagement and Development Manager for the region. “The needs and wishes of all three individuals were at the forefront of our minds for every decision made, at every stage of this development. This wonderful home is now the forever homes for the three people we have the pleasure of supporting.”
