Steven's film breaks down barriers

We are incredibly proud to announce that Steven Brandon has won the Best Actor Award at the Breaking Down Barriers film festival in Moscow for his portrait of Luke in the film My Feral Heart.

Living Ambitions, part of the Lifeways Group, have supported Steven since 2014 with outreach and more recently he moved into one of our properties in Colchester, Essex where he attends a weekly theater group at the Mushroom Theatre Company.

Steven attended the festival with the film’s director, Jane Gull. They were invited as special guests participating on a number of panels with actor R J Mitte from Breaking Bad. The festival culminated in Steven winning the Best Actor Award. My Feral Heart won Best Feature Film.

Steven has also been nominated for Best Actor and Most Promising Newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards up against the likes of A-listers Shia LaBeouf (American Honey), Michael Fassbender (Trespass Against Us) and David Johns (I, Daniel Blake). The awards will be held on December 4th with the full support of the whole of the Lifeways Group.

Cine Vue’s Matthew Aanderson said that My Feral Heart “is led by an extraordinary young actor, Steven Brandon.

The Observer’s Wendy Ide described Steven’s performance as “a terrific central performance... the driving force of this heartfelt British independent picture.

Leslie Felperin, the Guardian said “Steven Brandon [is] a gifted performer and the film’s secret weapon.
