Watch: ‘You don’t get these opportunities as an agency worker.’ Why Charmaine, who works at our Exeter supported living service, loves working for Lifeways!
What’s great about being a Lifeways support worker? And why should you be a full-time support worker instead of an agency worker?
Charmaine should know. She works as a full-time support worker at our Oak House Exeter supported living service, after a stint as a bank support worker.
“I get to watch the people we support grow as individuals,” she says. “and you don’t get those opportunities [as an agency worker] Each day you go in and you see someone completely different than you did the day before.”
“But here, at Lifeways, I can form that bond and I can better understand and help the individuals we support.”
Charmaine’s got two key other reasons why she also likes being a support worker – mainly, helping people we support and working in a close-knit team.
But that’s not all. Cuddling fluffy dogs that live at the service is also a perk. Watch Charmaine explain more in our video filmed in sunny Exeter this summer!
