What’s it like to work at a Lifeways residential service? Watch Brooke, Team Leader at Whitwood Grange, explain!
In this video, Team Leader Brooke shares her Lifeways career story – and what it’s like to support individuals who live with diverse and complex needs.
Brooke started working for Lifeways as a Support Worker at Whitwood Grange, a Lifeways residential service in Castleford, West Yorkshire – a role she held for two years before becoming a Team Leader at the service.
Team Leaders help supervise support workers, and oversee support of individuals.
“I absolutely love my job here at Lifeways. I’ve managed to develop so much as a person,” says Brooke. “It’s been brilliant.”
Time for change
Before starting at Lifeways, Brooke used to work in a very different career - as a restaurant manager. But she yearned for a change.
“I wanted to do something more rewarding,” Brooke recalls. “Something that could help me help other people.”
Currently, nine individuals receive support at Whitwood Grange from Brooke and her support team. These individuals live with support needs, including:
- Learning disabilities
- Autism
- Physical disabilities
- Acquired brain injuries
- Mental health conditions
