Lynwood Road
Life-changing support for adults with learning disabilities, non-complex physical disabilities and acquired brain injuries.
Type of property
Lynwood Road is a bungalow where people are supported to live happy, independent lives.
The detached property has three bedrooms. There is one shared bathroom with a shower, a kitchen, and a living room. Lynwood Road also has an accessible garden with a patio for people to use when the weather is good.
Valued in your community
At Lynwood Road, we are located in a peaceful residential area. The surrounding towns and villages are easily accessible from the property, and have larger cafes, pubs, restaurants, shops, high-street banks, post offices and libraries. For people who like to stay active, Hyndburn Leisure Centre provides year-round access to a gym and swimming pool.
Blackburn is the nearest large town, offering the Empire Theatre, museums and art galleries, a Vue cinema, Planet Ice for skating, the Mall Shopping Centre and Market, Tenpin Blackburn for bowling, and many historical landmarks. People can use the Royal Blackburn Hospital here, which has specialist services for adult mental illness, stroke, dementia, and occupational therapy.
Nearby Preston has cafes, restaurants, shops and attractions including St George’s and Fishergate shopping centres, and an Odeon cinema. There are a number of museums in the area too - Ribble Steam Railway and Museum is a popular choice.
Preston also offers the Creative Space Centre - the UK’s largest multi-sensory centre for people with special needs - a wonderful space. There are three sensory rooms, all with modern lighting and sound projection equipment, a social and eating area and beautiful gardens.
Living at this service
At Lynwood Road we currently support two men aged between 35 and 80. Another man within the same age range would be very welcome here.
People enjoy walking, shopping, listening to music, visiting the day centre, watching television, gardening, karaoke, volunteering, and being in the community.
At Lynwood Road, people choose how they spend their time. We have meetings every other month to discuss which activities people would like to do - day trips to Blackpool, and Leeds are favourites.
“Lynwood Road is in a quiet area. It’s a busy and active household with a happy environment. The people we support really enjoy the staff coming in, commenting that they are always so pleasant - everyone gets on well.” Manager, Lynwood Road
