Lisa Garrard

We’re hugely proud to share that one of our dedicated Lifeways team members has been shortlisted for a Lifetime Learning Award.

Lisa Garrard, Service Manager at Lifeways’ Beada House Mental Health service in Bedworth, Warwickshire, has been nominated in the Adult Social Care Apprentice of the Year category.

She was put forward by her Area Manager, David Reynolds, following a research paper she completed as part of her Level 5 Leadership in Health & Social Care NVQ. The paper focused on alcohol abuse and different recovery methods, developed while working alongside a range of NHS recovery teams.

Considered a huge success, the research has since been shared across multiple areas and has also fed into wider NHS research.

David spoke incredibly highly of Lisa, describing her as a very “inspirational person” with a vibrant, bouncing personality.

“Lisa used her learning in a fantastic way and produced a piece around alcohol abuse, which we were then able to put into practice to really benefit and support the people we support,” he said.

“The impact of this was enormous. Lisa is incredibly deserving of this award, and I was very proud to put her forward for it - it’s a pleasure working with her.”

Mark Spraggs, Managing Director of Lifeways’ Mental Health division, added: “Everyone at Lifeways is incredibly proud of Lisa and we’re all rooting for her ahead of the ceremony.

"Lisa is someone who continually makes a big difference to our organisation and outside of the recognition for this award Lisa is a driving force behind bringing the voice of the people we support into how we run our service. I can’t wait to see what Lisa does in the future.”

Award winners will be announced at the Lifetime Learning Awards gala on Thursday, February 5, at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham.
