Lifeways spreads more joy as part of 30th anniversary campaign
From mingling with meerkats to staging a glamourous, inclusive shindig, Lifeways continues to celebrate its 30th anniversary by granting more wishes to the amazing people we support.
As part of our 30th birthday celebrations, we’ve been awarding grants of up to £500 to a wide range of people we support who have been nominated by team members for a special treat.
Here are our latest inspiring nominations:
Gary’s meerkat adventure & a Halloween spooktacular at Trent View
Despite being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year Gary (pictured above with a support worker), who we support at our Trent View residential care service in Burton-upon-Trent, has never stopped smiling and has a simple wish which Lifeways was only too delighted to grant - to feed the meerkats at his favourite zoo. Gary loves watching the cheeky animals on video, and this experience will let him meet them up close in a calm, quiet setting.
Zoe Bayliss, Deputy Manager, said: “After a difficult period with his health, this opportunity to visit Twycross Zoo and feed the meerkats - Gary’s absolute favourite animals - is a moment of pure joy and healing. Winning the 30 Wishes means so much to us, especially because it allows Gary to fulfil one of his heartfelt wishes.”
Residents at Trent View also won cash to host a Halloween party to remember to thank them for hosting a crew who were filming a new recruitment campaign at the service.
She added: “We’re also so grateful for the money to put on an amazing Halloween event. It isn’t just about decorations and costumes - it’s about creating joy, connection, and shared experiences for the people we support.”
Haddon Court’s Snow Ball
At Haddon Court in Peterborough, the HC BATS group - formed by people we support to champion equality and diversity – will make their dream come true by hosting a Christmas Snow Ball in 2025. The event would help raise funds and awareness for LGBTQIA+ inclusion, helping members continue to spread their message of pride, empowerment and belonging.
Dukes House Music Room
The people we support at Dukes House share a deep love of music. From one composing tunes on his keyboard to the group dancing and singing together, music helps them express themselves and connect. Their wish is to transform an unused room into a colourful, sensory-friendly music room, complete with instruments and lights - a joyful space where everyone can explore rhythm, movement and creativity.
