Team Lifeways at the Derian House Colour Run

The extended Lifeways family in Leyland has raised more than £500 for Derian House Children’s Hospice by taking part in a local charity run.

Around 28 people—including staff, individuals supported at Reiver House and The Meadows, and their families—took part in the Colour Run on Saturday, raising a total of £545 for the Lancashire-based hospice.

Service Manager Gemma Munjic, who has been with the company for over a decade, explained that she and her team aim to organise at least one major event each year that everyone can take part in.

“It’s really important for us to give back to the community and for the people we support to be involved,” she said.Team Lifeways at the Derian House Colour RunThe race began with a Zumbathon to get participants warmed up, followed by four colour stages: pink, yellow, green, and blue. Team Lifeways joined in on the yellow run.

Gemma, whose family travelled from Dorset to take part, was delighted with how the day went. “They all had the best day,” she saidTeam Lifeways at the Derian House Colour RunThanks to donations and the support of family and several members of Lifeways’ Executive Leadership Team, the group surpassed their £500 fundraising target.

“I didn’t think we were going to get to £500—it was quite slow over the last few weeks,” Gemma admitted.

She added that they are already considering taking part in next year’s event—and may bring a picnic to help pass the time during waiting periods.

With services at Derian House costing £6 million this year, Gemma stressed the importance of fundraising efforts, noting that the Colour Run raised £22,000 overall.
