‘This Christmas, we can greet people with a smile’: Lifeways’ CEO Andrea Kinkade on change in government guidance on PPE
A message from our Lifeways CEO, Andrea Kinkade, following the government’s relaxation of mask wearing in care homes and support services:
"Great news! Following recent government guidance in England, mask wearing around people we support is no longer mandatory in most circumstances. Mask wearing will now be on a case-by-case, risk-based approach.
Keeping people safe is our highest priority – and you’ve all done that brilliantly throughout the past two-and-a-half years.
At the same time, it has not been easy for people we support to not see the faces of our colleagues who support them. And we know it has also not been easy for you to continually wear masks when working in your support roles.
So I’d like to thank all of our Lifeways colleagues for all your support in keeping people safe, day in and day out.
I’m really proud of how everybody at Lifeways has followed the rules, while keeping spirits high, especially during the pandemic’s darkest days.
As we take this next step, we now have the opportunity to create even better support relationships. And this Christmas, we can greet the people we support and our colleagues with a smile.
