A Lifeways Service Manager in Worcester has completed a 5k Dawn Walk alongside a group of people she supports, raising money for Samaritans.

Laura Hannah, Service Manager at a local Lifeways mental health service took on the challenge today (September 9), setting off at around 7.20am to catch the sunrise, reminding people that no one has to face their darkest hours alone.

Joined by four people she supports at the service, Laura enjoyed a scenic route taking in Worcester Cathedral, the racecourse and the riverside, while raising funds for the charity ahead of World Mental Health Day.

“Samaritans is a charity that means a great deal to me. They’ve supported some of the people we support during times of crisis, as well as people in my own life, so being able to give something back through this walk feels really special,” said Laura.

“One in four of us has experienced suicidal thoughts, and every ten seconds, Samaritans answers a call from someone reaching out for help. It’s so important that people know they’re not alone and that support is always there when they need it.”

“I’ve seen first-hand the difference Samaritans can make to people going through difficult times. Having someone who will listen without judgement and offer support when it’s needed most can make a real difference to someone’s life.

With all of Lifeways behind her, including members of the Executive Leadership Team, Laura has already raised £100 for Samaritans – halfway towards her £200 target.
