About SIL
Supporting people severely affected by mental illness to live with choice, opportunity and hope.
SIL has been providing specialist support and recovery services since 2009. We believe there are still too many people in hospitals or other institutionalised settings who, with the right support and structure, could thrive in community settings.
We offer a renewed focus on recovery, and the opportunity for a fresh start at life - something we believe every person living with mental ill health deserves. We have extensive experience in supporting people on the forensic pathway, including those with diagnoses of personality disorders and with a history of drug or alcohol abuse. Working together with commissioning authorities, we develop alternative pathways that inspire the hope and self-belief in each person that they can take greater control of their lives.
“Many patients remain in inpatient beds for longer than is necessary, in significant part because of inadequate residential provision out of hospital.”

Challenging the over-reliance on institutional care
Our vision - Driving partnerships and innovation that help to challenge the over-reliance on institutional care for people with complex mental health needs, creating the opportunity for individuals to live their best possible lives out in their local communities.
Our mission - Supporting and sustaining the earliest possible transition of people with mental health needs from institutional living environments into their own tenancy, creating a safe and supportive environment that feels as close to ‘home’ as possible.
