With a particular specialism in personality disorders and people on forensic pathways, our primary focus is on supporting individuals in long-term hospital placements, medium/low secure settings, and other institutional environments to transition back into their home communities.

Individuals referred to SIL will typically come with backgrounds that include many of the following diagnoses and ancillary factors:

Primary factors:

Treatment resistant schizophrenia
Personality disorders (EUPD anti-social)

Secondary factors:

Mild to moderate learning disability
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Autistic Spectrum Disorders
Depression
Anxiety Disorders
Physical Health and Mobility Issues
Acquired Brain Injuries

Supporting people transitioning from:

Out-of-area placements
Low and medium secure units
Locked rehabilitation
Acute
Residential care

A history which includes:

Institutionalisation
Substance abuse
Serious offending behaviour
Multiple failed placements
Limited or maladaptive coping skills
Risky, unpredictable or chaotic behaviours
