Living Ambitions Edinburgh and the Lothians celebrates strong care inspectorate improvement after dedicated team effort
Living Ambitions Edinburgh and the Lothians is celebrating a significant success, with the latest Care Inspectorate final report confirming improved ‘Good’ (4) ratings across every inspected area, following months of determined teamwork, leadership, and commitment from team members at every level.
The Registration and Regional Leadership Team for Scotland, working closely with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) colleagues, has delivered a transformational shift in quality, culture, and practice across the service. What began as a challenging landscape has now become a story of rapid improvement, shared purpose, and unwavering belief in what could be achieved.
A Whole Team Effort
The improvement also reflects the leadership of Registered Manager Colette Parker, who stepped into the role earlier this year and has focused on visibility, communication, and supporting the teams to feel confident and consistent in their roles: “From the start, it became clear this was going to be a whole-team effort. We worked hard on support plans, staff supervision, and observations, and new processes were introduced, including improved documentation, more frequent staff observations, and structured coaching for team leaders.
"Everyone has played a part in this improvement, and I’m incredibly proud of the progress being made across Edinburgh and the Lothians. The change hasn’t happened by chance; it’s been consistent effort, learning, and willingness from the whole team.”
With this positive final report now received, Living Ambitions Edinburgh and the Lothians continues to build on its momentum, focusing on team leader development, recruitment, and ongoing coaching.
The result marks an important milestone and a proud moment for everyone involved, a testament to their dedication and commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
Regional Director Fiona Barrie praised the team effort: “I want to acknowledge the incredible hard work, commitment, and sheer determination shown by the Registration and Regional Leadership Team for Scotland, along with our brilliant PBS colleagues. What has stood out is our collective belief in what good care looks like and our determination to deliver it.
"The togetherness they’ve shown has been genuinely humbling. Hard work has delivered outcomes that speak for themselves, and I couldn’t be prouder of this team.”
