Nottingham residential service achieves ‘Good’ rating across all areas from CQC
A Nottingham service providing residential care for adults living with learning disabilities and autism is celebrating after achieving an overall ‘Good’ rating following its latest inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Inspectors praised the efforts of team members and management at Lifeways’ Bulwell service following the inspection, which was carried out in December 2025. The report highlighted shared values focused on supporting people to live happy lives, as well as an ethos that encourages independence, with staff supporting people in their best interests.
Karen Jones, Managing Director of Lifeways’ Residential Care division, said:
“We’re incredibly proud of the team at our Bulwell service. A huge amount of dedication and hard work has gone into achieving this ‘Good’ rating – it really is well deserved and marks a really positive start to 2026 for Lifeways.
“The latest CQC outcome reflects the supportive, person-centred environment we strive to create across all our Lifeways services, and we’re excited to see what the team at Bulwell continues to achieve.”
The CQC assesses care services in England across five key areas: how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are. Lifeways’ Bulwell service was rated ‘Good’ in all five of these categories.
CQC inspections assess care services through five separate areas – how safe, effective, caring, responsible and well-led, they are. Lifeways’ Bulwell service has been rated ‘Good’ in all five of these areas.
Relatives of people supported at the service spoke very positively about the registered manager and wider management team. One family member said: “We feel very confident in their management and leadership qualities. If we had any issues we would talk to [Registered Manager], but as to date we have had no cause to raise any issues or concerns.”
Bulwell is a residential care home comprising two conjoined buildings and a separate bungalow and can accommodate up to 22 people. At the time of the assessment, there were 19 people receiving personal care.
All health and social care services in England are given one of four ratings by the CQC: Outstanding, Good, Requires Improvement or Inadequate.
